What to muse about today?

June 13, 2012

It’s been a busy day.

Teagan got to wear new pink sneakers today.  She was so excited, saying over and over that “they’re just like E’s.”  E is her best friend, at day care.  Teagan always qualifies it with “at day care.”

Pink Sneakers

She was also a nightmare, again.  A very bad girl.

Today at nap time, she pulled her pants and underwear down and danced on her cot.  Wonderful.  My girl is going to be a stripper.  Not an encouraging thing to hear from the instructors today.  Teagan did not get a cookie after dinner tonight.

Oh, and she’s not going to be wearing her pink sneakers to day care tomorrow.

Ashlin, on the other hand, had a good day.  She spent most of the day, including her nap, in the toddler room.  It’s not her first time, they’ve had her visit on and off for a few weeks now.  And she loves it there.  Mornings lately, she does not like being dropped off in the infant room, and will try to get into the toddler room.  She’ll walk up to the half door, and hold her arms up, until someone comes and picks her up and brings her in.  She also tried to let herself in.  (She’s going to be trouble.)   There must be something magic about the table over there, she loves eating her breakfast (pancakes, or waffles, or a bagel), at that little table, in her own little chair.

I think they’ll be moving her over soon, she’s ready.  I’m not sure I am.

Also, no bumps or scrapes today for her.  Yay.

And tonight, she did great with her fork.

Happy Kings Day!  We celebrated with one sick toddler (who didn’t know what today was, she thinks it’s tomorrow) and one happy (finally!) bathing beauty. Look at that belly!!

Night-Night, Kings!  Teagan is waiting for you!

We didn’t have Teagan put a box with grass out.  I had wanted her to color a picture as her wish list, but somehow the day got away from us.  We’ll do that next year.

No Nap!

No Nap!

Tonight on our walk Teagan fell asleep.  Almost mid-sentence.  LOL!  She hasn’t napped at day care all week.

Stu and I were talking about this earlier, ironically at the start of the walk.  She really hasn’t napped well since they moved her to the “older” toddler room.  The room where they take her to the bathroom at least once a day, if she asks.  She is a nosy little thing, and that could be one reason – she needs to know what’s going on.  It could be that in the young toddler room, some of the teachers would hold and rock her until she got very sleepy.  In the new room, they don’t.  She has said that she’s a big girl, and doesn’t need to be rocked.  But she doesn’t sleep.

Teagan seems to need about 13.5-14 hours of sleep a day.  If she doesn’t get it during the week, she makes up for it on the weekend.  I think that is the biggest reason why we can get two naps on the weekend.  Both her mom and dad love sleep, need their sleep.  It makes sense that our daughter needs it too.

Obviously, there’s something that’s keeping her from napping at day care.  We just need to find it out.

No More Bumps!

No More Bumps!

Ashlin was difficult to get to nap today – she would go about 2 hours or so between naps.  I had gotten her to sleep about 10 minutes before Stu and Teagan got home.  So, she started the walk asleep, but woke up.  There may have been too many bumps in the sidewalk.

May 24, 2011 ~ Birthday Party!

Birthday Smooch

Birthday Smooch

We had five toddlers at the house Saturday.  We survived.  Yippee!

They were over for Teagan’s birthday party – a small party, just the kids and their parents.  And LaLa, PopPop, and Ney Ney.  (She’s asked me to not spell it Nay Nay.  LOL!)  Total headcount ~ 18.

There were cupcakes, Teagan did sing.  She got awesome presents. There were bubbles and very few tears.

She even kissed the guests :)
