What to muse about today?

King - from a buick 8

I guess driving 40 miles each way to work could have it’s good points. Audio books.

Right now I’m listening to the unabridged audio book of From A Buick 8, which for some reason I’ve never read. Go figure. I am enjoying it, I do like having books read to me. The only thing that is a bit distracting in this book, is when the character relating the story changes. They have done a nice job by giving each character his own “voice,” reader, but you can’t flip back to the start of the section to see who it is, if you forget. I think this book actually lends itself to being read aloud v read from an actual book – a group of people are telling someone a story of past events, like around a campfire, or when you get to listen to gramma tell how life was in 1914 :) A verbal story versus a written one.

Anyway, I should be done with this in the next day or so – I think I have less than 3 hours left of the book – and I really what to know what happens at the end :)

Anyway, audio books seem to make the trip go faster, give me something more involving than the radio to listen to… Gives me a feeling of accomplishment when the book is done, not quite like actually reading it, but close enough when there’s limited time in the day for reading in the first place, time that’s been taken up by the stupid commute. <sigh>

IMDB seems to have an entry for a movie adaptation… Romero… Interesting, or terrifying, depending :)

Flower!

This cute little guy was simply too exhausted from a night of carousing to get back home.  He spent the day yesterday underneath my Alberta spruce, in plain sight, totally zonked out.  Today he’s gone.  I’m sure he went out trolling again last night.

I had a stuffed skunk as my teddy bear growing up, instead of a “real” teddy bear.  He was pink.  He might still be in the basement, I should look…

PS.  I finally finished the Dark Tower.  Interesting ending…  Although I might not be completely satisfied with it, King is right, it’s the way it had to end. He gave me Central Park, and I needed Central Park, but this is the better ending.

Forty more pages to go in the Dark Tower.  I needed a break.  The Crimson King is throwing Sneetches.  I’m getting tired.  Can I finish tonight?  I hope so.  At least to the Epilogue.  Then into dreams, hopefully of new books, new stories…

Today’s link is a Sloganizer.  Fun toy or prophetic device?  You decide.

lisa and stu under one roof

Well, I guess it is a bit prophetic, as it will be true.  Soon.  Very soon we will be under one roof :)

We’re hoping that all will work out to have him be here by April.  That’s just over a month, and still too far away.  <sigh>  A couple of details to straighten out, some bits of paper and he’ll be here.  Wonderful.  My house hasn’t really seemed right since he left – 19 days ago – not even three weeks.  It is amazing, when you think about it, how deeply he’s become a part of my life.  In the grocery store tonite, I walked down the tea and coffee aisle, and checked to make sure they had his brand of tea.   (They did, whew).  I used to just grab the Celestial Season’s box I normally would, but not tonight. :)

Tonight, to bed, with the King – must finish the Dark Tower – and then to sleep, perchance to dream … hopefully deep sleep, and lovely dreams

dark tower

Ok.  After starting the final Dark Tower book back in the beginning of January, I’ve finally picked it back up again.  Was one reason because of what King did to Eddie?  I know that I had to put it down for a bit after that…  Then Jake?  I’m not sure if I’m going to like how this ends… But I do have to finish it.  Hopefully it will get done over the weekend…  No real plans for travels, for outings after last night’s Seven Nations Concert :)

More later today, maybe…  Laundry first :(

Driving up to my parents, there were snow flurries!  I can’t believe the snow’s started :)

Done cooking for the day…  Biscotti, Apple Pie, Stuffing, Cranberry Bread, Cranberry sauce, Potatoes ready to mash, oh just tons of food…  everything’s ready and set to heat up and finish tomorrow… Can’t wait to strip the turkey!!  Mom’s Adobo is mostly garlic :)

So tired, this is the first day I haven’t taken a nap since this cold…

Found this picture of me on my dad’s computer…  he he he.

Lost then Mr. King then bed!

wolves of the calla

So, today I’ll be lazing on the sofa or out on the back deck reading Stephen King’s “Wolves of the Calla.”  I started last weekend, and got about half way through.  I hope to get it finished later today or tomorrow.  Rain is forecast for tomorrow, so maybe today I should just go outside and play…  Dirt Therapy might be helpful…  To read or to weed… that is the question.
