Whatever!

What to muse about today?

February 1, 2011

Lookie!  The piglet came home today with a pony-tail.  LOL!  She was so excited by it.  Can you tell?

She was a bit strange tonight – said she was hungry, but didn’t want to eat.  Dun!  The trick where either Stu or I eat a bit of what she has in front of her worked…  So she had a little meatloaf, some grapes, and toast with peanut butter.  She asked for the toast :)  She also asked for milk.  She’s been on a big milk kick lately.

I’m not even going to talk about the weather.  (It’s winter storm Ella!  E!  We’re on storm E!)  Instead, I’ll share a story from yesterday, that I almost forgot.  Going from cube to cube, office to office, taking down the holiday decorations* (christmas ornaments, trees and wreaths) that I had put up, a consultant looked up from the desk she was working on and we said hi.  Later in the day, she was meeting with someone next to my cube and as we passed in the hall , stopped and told me that I was the cutest pregnant person she’d ever seen.  She apologized for being so “forward,” as we don’t really work together and she doesn’t know me.  I thanked her and made some joke.  I was very touched, as I feel HUGE.   (Thank you 93rd%ile baby).  Not fat, but just big and awkward.  Ungainly.

As I told Stu the story, he of course, reminded me that this little one is measuring big (93rd%ile!) and as the doctors said, could be of by 15%.  That she could be in the 108th percentile.  Thanks.  That’s a thought I needed to have. <thwap>

~~~~~~
* I’ve made a bunch of decorations (flowers, leaves, and various christmas) to hang from the ceilings above the desks, to go along with the snowflakes, hearts and shamrocks that I’ve somehow inherited.
Merry Christmas!
And as a Christmas present – some beach shots:
I guess sand tastes good.  <shudder>
PS. For those that expressed concern, we’re all fine!  We were in Caguas, near Agua Buena, the epicenter of the earthqake.  On top of a mountain.  Mom and Renee were inside; dad, Stu, myself and Teagan were outside.  We heard it coming, it sounded like a train.  I initially thought a truck or something large hit a retaining wall for the house or something.  It only lasted about 10 seconds.  At 5.4 it was the strongest quake that I’ve been “awake” for.  Interesting feeling. We joked that it was a great Christmas present.  Then passed the Champagne.
How can you not love having this view for breakfast??  It’s just so pretty here.  Teagan is having a blast! She loves everything so far, except going in the ocean – can’t blame her, as the waves are very very rough.  Both Stu and I were knocked off our feet a few times!  She does love the little pool, but only if there aren’t any other kids there.
Things are going well, we have an adjoining room to my parents, so we can put Teagan down for a nap, and to bed, and not disturb her.  We get a bit more adult time, and now that my sister is here, will take advantage of La La and Pop Pop (or “hop hop” as Teagan has been saying lately) and go down to the hotel bar & club.
This morning, was awesome.  Teagan woke up chattering “da da da da luv luv luv.”   How sweet is that?  Then La La and Pop Pop took her down for breakfast and let Stu and I get ready a bit more leisurely.
We try to let her burn off some energy in the mornings as well – letting her chase the pigeons and grackles screaming “duck! duck!”  And doing hand stands:
When we go for rides in the car, Teagan loves it  – we ended up getting a “booster” style seat that we were able to pack in a suitcase – she’s been front facing for the first time ever.  Seeing the excitement on her face when she sees things – dog, ocean, tree – is fantastic.  I’ve told my dad that he needs to drive extra carefully, as Teagan’s still a bit young to be front facing.
I’m hoping that we don’t have too many issues when we get  back having her rear face again!
Anyway, I have to give back my dad’s notebook..  so, that’s the update for now :)
Hope everyone is having a happy holiday – and Merry Christmas!!
Gotta love walking past food in the office and seeing this:
As I past by the tray of cupcakes, I wondered out loud if they were Wonderland themed.  The person who put them out overheard me, and was shocked that I was able to guess it.  Turns out they were from the  “trial batch” of cupcakes for a baby shower, with, yes, an Alice in Wonderland theme.  Talking to the proud grandpa-to-be, I found out that they’ll also have little bottles (filled with Tequila) labeled “drink me.”  LOVE IT!  BTW, the cupcake was yummy.
Also, yesterday was “International Talk Like a Pirate Day!”  I forgot to Arrrrrrrrrrrr!
May you have all the happiness
and luck that life can hold—
And at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all!  Someone needs to have a whiskey for me!  Stu and I went to the New Haven parade on Sunday – a little late and with some parking issues – and followed it up with a corned beef sandwich at Tommy Sullivan’s in Branford.  There was so much corned beef in the sandwich that I ended up taking home enough to make TWO more!   I might even swing past Bill’s later today for some more corned beef.  Bill’s is really teh best!  Maybe they’ll let me dash in, get a to go dinner, and dash out…
I haven’t had a chance to go through the pictures that I took, hoping a few turn out ok…  They’ll be up on flickr soon!
Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
This site has quite a few sayings…  always fun reading …  makes me remember, and miss, my grandma :*)
Halloween - lisa
Stu and I got pumpkins this weekend, and carved them :) This is the one I did… Honeymooners. Tee hee hee. He’s never carved a pumpkin before. (Why do I want to put a “g” on the end of pumpkin? Hum). We had fun picking templates, cleaning out pumpkin guts, and carving. He did a great job with his first pumpkin… He took a few pictures and put them on his flickr.
I might bring home another pumpkin so he can carve another one :D
PS. It’s been one month already, today :D
fall
Ok. I’m ready for it to be fall now. I want the colors, the cool nights. It’s time for summer to be over. I’m hoping that the bit of rain we get will allow the trees to get pretty. It’s been so dry that there hasn’t been much spectacle to see.
It’s almost time to get ready for Halloween!!
Interesting… even if a day late… no one at work believed that it was Talk Like a Pirate Day yesterday :(
My pirate name is:
Black Bess Cash
Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, you can be pessimistic at times. You’re musical, and you’ve got a certain style if not flair. You’ll do just fine. Arr!
Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.
PS. This is Nina’s fault. I did do this twice, somehow the first just didn’t seem right :)
astronomers quiddich
You gotta love when Astronomers get in on April Fool’s Day. LOL! The first Quiddich match in space! Go America! LOL. The picture is from the APOD site, April 1st pic.
April Fool’s wasn’t quite so fun at my house. Stu and I (YAY he’s here!) had to be up early, so I set the alarm for 7:45. Ok. That in itself was painful enough. But the alarm goes off, I get up and go brush my teeth. Take a peek at the clock in the bathroom, and ask if he’s messing with me. It said 5:50. No way, he didn’t touch it. Then he mentions that all the clocks are showing a different time. <sigh> Ok. Gotta figure it out. What the hell time is it anyway? Well, it was ungodly early. The stupid bedroom clock is a “smart” clock and set itself ahead for day light savings time. But we already moved ahead. So, instead of being 7:45, it was 6:45. Just too wrong! <sob> On a SUNDAY no less!
Anyway, we just sat and vegged until we needed to be out, but man, what a bad April Fool’s day joke :(
