  1. I hope getting her hydrated again gets her all better quickly. There’s nothing worse than a sick baby.

    Hugs and more hugs!!

Thanks!! Hopefully the hydration works. I wish force-feeding her pedialyte via syringe had done it, but now were not playing catch up, just maintenance.

how long were you there? Do you need to keep her home a few days to let her immune system take a break?

    • lisasff says:

We ended up there for about 4 hours last night and over 5 the night before.

We did keep her home today. They didn’t say anything about building up immunity but did give instructions on how much fluid she needs to have. We are supposed to give 30ml for every hour she’s awake. Add in 20ml if she has any diarrhea diapers. We are about 20-30ml behind already :(

      • Kris A says:

Is daycare able to keep up with that diligently? Is she still having tummy issues or have they passed?

        • lisasff says:

Ashlin’s tummy sort of seems to be better. She hasn’t thrown up in 2 days now. Butt issues, well, that’s different.

As far as fluid, she’ll end up having about 12oz of breast milk and some water. I can ask them to let us know how much water she does drink. I can also ask them to try to get more water into her, if possible.

She’ll be home Wednesday, so I can be sure to nurse and syringe-feed her more fluid. If needed.

Poor little Ashlin. But impressive nonchalance from her!

Thanks!! Don’t know if you can see it in the pictures, but her face is almost purple from being upset and crying. She’s a bit better in the one where she’s playing with the IV in, but still very flushed from the upset :(

I was pretty impressed too, at how quickly she got back to playing. Thankfully the Child Life person brought the ring toy. She loves playing with that, and we don’t have one at home.
