What to muse about today?

January 17, 2012

Last night I watched Lost Girl. It was the series premier on Sci-Fi.  (Yes, yes, I know.  It’s syfy.  Stupid).  I thought it was a bit interesting.  Or interesting enough to watch a second episode.  And it was on after Being Human, which for one reason or another, I didn’t see. Maybe it was Alcatraz? Eh.   It’s on the DVR though.

Looking around today, I find out that it’s a Canadian series, with two seasons aired, and has been renewed for a  third season.  Then, I stopped looking.  It was enough to know that it may really be worth a second episode viewing.  Maybe even a third.

Anyway, the premise – a fae (succubus) in the world, not knowing what or who she is – was right up my alley.  Fairies, supernatural, sci-fi, blah blah sort of shows pique my interest.  While watching the pilot,  I did get these mini-flashbacks to reading Laurel Hamilton‘s “horny fairy books“, though.  But nothing too concrete, more like dreamy impressions of “wasn’t that like it was in the book?”.  Maybe it was just the strong female lead and two warring sides of the fae world.

The episode also reminded me a bit of The Dresden Files, a show I did enjoy, even campy as it was.    It could have been the lighting, the mood, the subject matter.  I’m not sure.  I haven’t read any of those books yet – not available on kindle at the library – but I will.  Soon. I’ve heard they’re better than the tv show was.

So, next Monday, I’ll have the DVR tuned into SyFy, for the second episode of Lost Girl.  I probably won’t be able to stay up to watch it.

I need to find time to watch Being Human.  Too.
