What to muse about today?

Ashlin does have croup. It was not an easy night, though I – we – got some sleep. Even Ashlin got some sleep.

She was sounding so bad, even in the morning, that I called the doctor for an appointment. We got in first thing, thankfully. It is croup. We need to watch her breathing, and as long as she isn’t having too much difficulty, we can avoid both the hospital and steroids.

In weight news, she’s up nine ounces. Yay!

Yeah, we had put the cold air humidifier on last night. Not sure it really helped, but it’s the cow, so something cute to look at.

The cough is horrible. I recorded her a little this morning, but didn’t have the heart to let it go too long. By the the time we got to the doctor, she was acting better, so I actually showed the doctor a bit of how bad she was.

Thanks Nina. Teagan never had croup, other than ear infections she was a very easy baby.

This one, is turning into less fun, though she’s almost always happy, which does make or easier.

Nina, I can’t imagine. These past two days have not been fun at all. Having this as a “full time” thing? And with a hubby that’s not here? I’ll take ear infections over croup and vomiting any day.

Thomas has gotten croup at least once a year for almost 10 years! He is supposed to grow out of it but we still get one case a year, usually in the winter. It is a horrible sounding cough!! He now also will tell us it hurts very specifically in the middle of his throat when he coughs. I hope she is better and that you are sleeping a bit. You two must be wiped out. (btw-we lost power from Sat. noon until TUes. nite…ugh)

    • lisasff says:

OMG, Kris, its the worst sound ever. I can’t imagine going through that every year. You’re one strong mama. Teagan now has something, that’s got her hoarse and coughing, though not quite the seal bark that Ashlin had. She’s also running a 102.5 ish temp. She was sent home from day care today. Fun. Two sick kids.

Though, Ashlin is getting better, and may go into day care tomorrow, so I can either take care of sick Teagan, or take care of myself.

Wow, you are getting the double whammy!! Odds are, either you or Stu will be next! I’;ve gotten strep from the kids more than once no matter what precautions I take. Buy some Airborne or Zicam for you two and try to get a bit of rest! I hope the girls are feeling better soon.

        • lisasff says:

we are! it’s not fair! :( Stu already has a cough, I’ve had laryngitis… he’s also had lyme’s disease. We’ve had our share for the season, thank you very much!

    Lyme disease! Egads!

    • lisasff says:

Yeah. Stu has a good streak of interesting illnesses now… stuff that they don’t seem to get exposed to over in the UK…
