Whatever!

What to muse about today?

So, my baby is still causing trouble. On top of not thriving, the solid/vomit issues, she’s now not sleeping well. Or as long as she used too. Could be thanks to bottom teeth that aren’t through yet. Could be due to the cold that seems to have clogged her head.

When she does sleep, she flips herself onto her tummy and snores.

She seems a bit more satisfied when nursing, the fenugreek appears to be helping the little I need. Supply does seem to be a bit better. I think it started dropping a bit since the mastitis and due to the fact that I didn’t start pumping when Ashlin started sleeping longer.

I didn’t have a supply issue at all with with Teagan, possibly since I started pumping earlier – around four months. I also didn’t have clogged ducts or mastitis either.

She’s happy and moving for the most part – that is unless it’s 4am – and then she’s cranky pants. Crankopotamus.

Hopefully, we figure it out before either of us go crazy or get too sick from the lack of sleep. Or drive the car off the road.

Are you switching her with formula at daycare? Could she be allergic to that? What does the doc say?”

Lori, at day care she’s still taking breast milk. There’s still enough. Barely. :) And the fenugreek will help ensure that.

She’s finally really taking bottles, and by the end of this week was taking about 12oz over 8 hours. And still seeming hungry. She’s not interested at all in solids. It probably would be better if she was. But it seems that every time she gets some, she vomits them up.

We go to the docs in a week or so, so we’ll see how her weight is, and if there are any new possible diagnosis or suggestions on what to do next.

Sorry, forget that you’re not living it… Fenugreek is a natural galactagogue – milk production enhancer. Rolled oatmeal is too, but not the instant oatmeal. I think my milk production took a hit when I got mastitis and never really recovered.

We have an appointment with the doc this afternoon – she had another vomiting episode last night.

We took her last Friday. She was all happy and healthy looking. We need to monitor her, note any possible links (her food, my food, etc). She goes back in two weeks now for a follow up.

Since then, she’s only spit up a few times, but hasn’t vomited, so far so good… Hopefully I haven’t jinxed it.

Could she have an acid reflux issue that is causing the sporadic vomiting? Keep us posted and take care of yourself too!! Please, no driving off the road!

    • lisasff says:

Kris, I did think of that, but it’s so sporadic. Usually reflux is constant, or just evenings. Silent reflux was a thought, as she would fuss, but she never did the back arching thing that is a sign of it. The Ped Nurse/LC at the support group yesterday suggested maybe an absorption issue. That seems to make sense, as she’s not gaining as quickly as they want., though is such a happy thing. We have an appointment at 2pm, so we’ll see where we go.

Last night’s vomiting was spectacular. She’s making a late run for the US 2012 distance vomiting Olympic team.

what did the dr. say. Inquiring minds want to know….

    • lisasff says:

Doc wants to keep an eye on it. She was in such a good mood, there really wasn’t anything “sick” to see about her. She only gained 3oz, so not enough. So, concerning. We go back in about 2 weeks, I need to bring a diaper in and keep track of new episodes. Call immediately if there’s the yellow-green again. So, no real news.
