Happy Birthday to Stu! How cool is it to have a Star Wars birthday? At his daughter’s request, I made cupcakes. After the girls ate dinner, I lit the candle, he blew it out as we sang for him. Then everyone got a cupcake.
Excuse me, waiter!
After eating more dinner than her sister, Ashlin devoured her cupcake. And then called the waiter for another cupcake.
Ashlin gave us the sign she was all done… a bit prematurely. She looked down and saw more cupcake, which she finished immediately, and then tried to lick the crumbs off the tray just to be sure she got it all.
Teagan did stop singing long enough to eat her cupcake…
It was a good day.
And Teagan had a very good week. So we had a very good week. Birthdays and cupcakes are a great end to the week.
As we were trying to herd the kids tonight, Stu told me he sent today’s blog entry. Yeah, yeah I thought. We’ll see about that. Maybe I want to write about how Ashlin discovered how to use a snack trap. Or maybe how quickly she can get to standing now. Or how she will not just sit any more, but needs to crawl, or move or something. Or even what Teagan dreamed about the other night – not twinkle stars! Or maybe about the funny thing Teagan said while getting her ready for bed.
Well, you know what? He was right! He had sent me this link:
I haven’t been able to watch too much of it yet, but OMFG!!1! it’s awesome.
Last Friday we went out to dinner, the four of us! We were on the hunt for good pizza, but the place we were recommended looked to be in a very bad part of town, so we didn’t go in. Instead we ate at SBC, who gave Teagan a pirate mask. At first she didn’t want to even touch it, but she eventually warmed up to it, and we had to sneak it out. LOL!
Ashlin just chilled. She was such a good baby during dinner. Slept almost the entire time and didn’t fuss. She woke up at the end. Look! You can see the mask’s hiding spot.
Saturday, we went to my friend’s son’s Confirmation party. Left Teagan with my parents, to try to get her to nap – she didn’t, but had “quiet time.” Ashlin came with us to the party, and was passed around. She ended up sleeping on just about every one there. LOL!
We got her after the party was over, but before everyone left, and she got very very shy. I had to pick her up and carry her in – Stu had Ashlin at the time – Teagan was that freaked out. I’ve never seen her react that strongly, normally the social butterfly, the party planner. She’s taken over at day care, handing out toys, telling the other kids, the older kids what to play with. After a little bit, she warmed up, so that was good. A balloon helped. I don’t know why I don’t have any pictures from that. Watching her play with the balloons was great :)
Sunday, we celebrated Stu’s birthday with family. Teagan sang for her dad, and got to eat some cake. So sweet.
They also had a story about “The Pirate Movie.” I loved this movie when I first saw it. It still has a soft spot in my heart, though it is, as the author said, a terrible movie. But how can you not like a movie with singing pirates and princesses? LOL! And a happy ending?? Makes me want to watch “Xanadu” again.
I love when I get to see things first. He’s always beating me to punches on things – could be that I fall asleep at 9pm most nights. LOL. Anyway, I’m calling myself winner on this… Though it really is Star Wars who wins here:
This guy has awesome art. And such a nifty idea – combining two of my favorite things!
If I was up to date on my blog reading, I would have seen this (on my own!) about the same time Stu showed it to me. It was sweet that he did. He knows that I love Pooh. He’s seen my copy of Pooh’s Little Instruction Book, as well as Eeyore’s version. I’m sure he know’s I have the Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet. We even call Teagan Piglet half the time. I also have the original Star Wars movies (VHS!!), as well as Special Editions (DVD, and Han Shot First!!) and the Boxed Set (DVD!) I may admit to owing the first trilogy, even though it sucked, mostly.
I’m going to have to check to see if I even have Winnie-The-Pooh or House at Pooh Corner. I do think I have a few board books for Teagan, maybe those will work as well.
